Traceability before volume
We would rather sell a smaller lot we can trace to a named mill than a large one assembled from anonymous sources. Volume without traceability is just risk you have not priced yet.
Coast India Agro LLP exists to solve one problem: importers want Indian agricultural products, and they want the tenth container to match the first.
Our story
Coast India Agro LLP is based in Mangaluru, in Dakshina Kannada, where the Western Ghats meet the Arabian Sea. The geography is the whole point. Within a few hours’ drive of our office sit the coconut groves of the coastal plain, the pepper and cardamom hills of the Ghats, the coffee estates of Chikkamagaluru and Coorg, the areca belt of the Malnad, and the cashew and coir processing clusters that have served this port for more than a century.
That proximity changes how we work. We do not buy blind against a photograph and a promise. We visit the mill, we see the lot, we draw the sample, and only then do we quote. When a buyer in Dubai or Hamburg asks where a consignment came from, the answer is a place we have stood in.
Our customers are importers, ingredient distributors, manufacturers, roasters and retail brands. What they have in common is that a failed shipment costs them far more than the shipment is worth — a stopped production line, a delisted SKU, a customs hold. Everything we have built is aimed at making that outcome unlikely.
Mission
To connect disciplined smallholder farming on India’s coast with buyers who need consistency — moving verified, fully documented produce across borders in a way that pays the grower properly and lets the importer plan a year ahead with confidence.
In practice that means three commitments: source close enough to inspect, test before we offer, and stay accountable for the file until the container is discharged.
Vision
To become the supplier international buyers name first when they need coconut, spice, frozen or natural-fibre products from India — recognised not for being the largest, but for the plain fact that what arrives is exactly what was agreed.
We would like the coastal belt we buy from to be visibly better off for our being in it: better prices at the farm gate, more processing done locally, and less of the crop wasted.
What we hold to
These are not aspirations on a wall. They are the rules we use to decide which lots to buy, which enquiries to decline and which customers to build around.
We would rather sell a smaller lot we can trace to a named mill than a large one assembled from anonymous sources. Volume without traceability is just risk you have not priced yet.
Nothing is offered on the strength of a supplier’s word. A grade claim becomes a commitment only once we have seen the test result ourselves.
A perfect cargo with a defective certificate is a detained cargo. We treat the document set with the same seriousness as the goods.
Growers who are squeezed in a good year cannot supply you in a bad one. Paying properly is commercial self-interest as much as it is principle.
We are structured for annual contracts and repeat programmes. A trade we can only do once is usually a trade we should not have done.
Monsoon shifts, crop failures and berth congestion happen. We tell you while there is still time to re-plan rather than at the point of discharge.
Our sourcing belt
Our primary catchment runs from coastal Karnataka — coconut, cashew, coir, areca and coffee — south into Kerala for pepper, cardamom, ginger, coir substrate and Ayurvedic botanicals, and east into Tamil Nadu for turmeric, desiccated coconut, moringa, dried fruit and the vegetable clusters that feed our frozen line.
Consignments leave through New Mangalore Port for most bulk cargo, Cochin for spice and coir, and Chennai or Nhava Sheva where a sailing schedule suits the buyer better. We also consolidate LCL for smaller trial orders, which matters more than most exporters admit — nobody should have to commit to a full container to find out whether a supplier is any good.
Who we supply
Bulk programmes with fixed grades, agreed tolerances and a documented chain of custody.
Food, beverage, cosmetic and nutraceutical plants that need specification-stable inputs on a schedule.
Own-brand programmes with buyer artwork, retail-ready packing and certification to match the channel.
Partners who resell into their own markets and need a supplier who will not go around them.
